It is the writing layer of my work. An idea starts rough in my head, and it only becomes something I can check, and something you can check, once it is written down in full sentences. The name is honest: most of what you read here began as a draft and is still being improved.
What I Write About
Software engineering, AI and technology, productivity, systems, entrepreneurship, careers, lessons from projects, experiments, and long-form technical writing.
Some posts will be a worked-out explanation. Some will be a story about how I got something wrong. Every post says which kind it is at the top, so you never have to guess whether a scene really happened.
Where to Start
There are four series, and you can start with any of them.
- Building Drafted is how this site was made, one decision at a time: what I chose, why, and what broke.
- Dev Universe is the larger system around my work, as one map.
- Building Dev Universe walks through each part of that map, and starts with how Drafted began.
- Curious to Coder is about the curiosity that quietly points people toward code.
How to Read It
You do not need an account to read anything here. If you want more, there are a few ways in, and each one is optional.
- Just readNo account, no ads, no tracking scripts. Pages are plain files, so they load fast.
- FollowEvery post, every series and every topic has its own feed. Paste /rss.xml into any feed reader.
- Come backBookmarks and the place you stopped reading are saved in your browser first. Make an account and they follow you to other devices.
- Write to meUnder every post there is a private message box. Only you and I can see what you send, and I reply to you there.
Why There Are No Pictures
Posts here use no images. Where another site would put a screenshot or an illustration, I use type and layout: a big sentence, a before and after, a small diagram. It is a strict rule on purpose, and the first post in Building Drafted explains why.
Thank you for reading. Pick a series, or just wander.
